One of the most commonly asked questions we get is ~
“What is the difference between a Gua Sha and Facial Roller?”
Well, you’ve asked and we have listened, our answers below!
What is a Facial Roller?
A Facial Roller is a beauty tool that traditionally has dual ends, one side a long oval shape stone for your forehead, chin and cheeks and the other side having a smaller stone for your under eyes, nose and eyelids.
Our Habitual Beauty Facial Roller is made from rose quartz, which is known to be the ultimate beauty crystal and promotes self-love (which hey, let’s face it, we all need a little bit more self-love right?!).
Essentially facial rollers allow you to use the roller to apply slight pressure to your skin and under the tissue to create movement beneath the surface which can help with product penetration, lymphatic drainage, stimulate oxygen flow to the skin and helps promotes circulation.
How to use?
Relatively easy to use (which we love!!) You roll your facial roller over your face, making sure you roll over as much skin as possible. Starting from the neck up, using one motion upwards. Spend time gently holding the small end of the facial roller under the eye to help reduce puffiness.
What is a Gua Sha?
Gua Sha is an ancient Chinese scraping technique, the facial version has been slightly modified and is not as harsh as the body technique. By using the correct Gua Sha technique you can help to break up fascia (the connective tissue that hugs your muscles but can sometimes interfere with circulation).
Our Habitual Beauty Gua Sha is handmade rose quartz, which is the stone of self-love.
How to use?
Gua Sha, in theory, is similar to facial rolling, which is applying pressure to your tissue and skin to help promote circulation. However, when done correctly, using a gua sha creates a slight stretch of skin and tissue during this moment. Stay tuned for a detailed tutorial coming soon!
