Summer holidays are just around the corner and there's so much to look forward to. Ocean swims, saying goodbye to Elf on the Shelf, forgetting what day it is, making family memories and so much more. Help keep you and your family thriving this summer with our handy list of summer hydration tips.
1. Stay Hydrated
The summer heat significantly increases your hydration needs, especially if you're pregnant or breastfeeding. Pregnant women should drink at least an extra litre of fluids daily. Breastfeeding mums need about an extra 1L to support milk production. Carry a bottle of Hydramama with you to meet these goals wherever summer takes you.
2. Morning + Afternoon Beach Visits
Avoid the heat of the day by planning beach visits early in the morning or late in the afternoon. This helps reduce the risk of overheating and sunburn while allowing you to enjoy some fresh air and a relaxing swim.
3. Wear Light and Breathable Clothing
Choose loose, lightweight, and light-coloured clothing to help keep your body cool and comfortable during the heat.
4. SPF Always
Apply a high SPF sunscreen, wear a wide-brimmed hat, and use an umbrella or cabana to protect everyone from UV rays. We love WotNot Naturals, 123 Nourish Me and Mother SPF.
5. Rest Often
Take regular breaks to avoid overexertion. The summer heat can lead to quicker fatigue, especially for pregnant or breastfeeding mamas and your little ones too. Listen to your body and rest when needed.
6. Be Sun Smart
Whether at the beach or in the backyard, ensure there's lots shade for playtime. Use umbrellas or pop-up tents to create safe, shaded areas where kids can enjoy their toys and activities safely.
7. Make Hydramama Ice Blocks
Ideal for hot days and a simple, fun way to keep the whole family hydrated. Try Watermelon + Lime Icy Poles.
