The conception of Hydramama
Born out of an essential need of her very own, founder Keira Rumble, a mum of one and soon-to-be two, designed Hydramama® after her own recent experiences of pregnancy left her searching for a clean hydration product that would support her through regular cycles of sickness but wasn’t full of sugar and additives.
Diagnosed with Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG), a complication in pregnancy where women experience extreme levels of nausea and vomiting, Keira was often at risk of dehydration and malnutrition. In some cases, even going to hospital to be on IV fluid drips or taking whole days off work. As a result, finding a rehydration solution became not just useful but vital.
As founder of two established clean food and skincare brands Krumbled Foods and Habitual Beauty, Keira has a long history of experience creating products based on her own personal struggles and needs and has now applied the same lens now to creating a sustainable, clean isotonic drink solution. An antidote to your hydration woes, Hydramama® is born out of a need for full transparency, clean ingredients, science backed support and of course a sprinkle of love and compassion for new mums.
What’s in Hydramama?
Each sachet is designed with easy-to-digest, thirst quenching and sugar-free ingredients that meet all your daily electrolyte needs and then some. Consider it love in a cup, good for you, good for bub, no nasties.
Formulated with five main vitamins and minerals including: electrolytes, folate, magnesium, vitamin B6 and vitamin C all in bioavailable water-soluble form, you’ll have all your base needs met and at the best level of absorption.
Each sachet contains a mixed electrolyte mineral salts blend of Magnesium Chloride, Sodium Chloride, Mono Potassium Phosphate, Sodium Citrate. This blend ensures you are hydrated to the optimal level.
Magnesium: can play a protective role in preterm labour, therapeutic support in those with preeclampsia and improve glucose tolerance in gestational diabetes, studies show.
Sodium Chloride: is essential for regulating the water in our cells and reducing the risk of hyponatremia (a condition that develops as a result of low sodium levels in the blood). This is particularly important for those experiencing morning sickness and vomiting, as sodium levels naturally decrease and if they fall too low it results in symptoms like sluggishness, dizziness, confusion or in some cases muscle twitches and seizures. Sodium plays an essential part in adequate hydration.
A naturally derived fruit-based ascorbic acid which is quick absorbing, our Vitamin C provides vital support for mama and bub during pregnancy and postpartum recovery.
The Science: Vitamin C may support the reduction of placental abruption and preterm PROM (premature rupture of membranes) and is associated with increasing the likelihood of healthy fetal growth and infant growth (up to six months old).
A water soluble form of vitamin B6 (known as Pryidoxine Hydrochoride), this vitamin works specifically to treat nausea and vomiting.
The Science: Vitamin B6 is a widely accepted treatment used by medical professionals for nausea, vomiting, morning sickness and its more severe form in pregnancy, hyperemesis gravidarum. When pregnant, it's not uncommon to become depleted in essential B vitamins like vitamin B12 and folic acid, both of which can lead to a vitamin B6 deficiency. By keeping topped up on vitamin B12, you can effectively soothe waves of nausea and support immunity, skin, brain functioning and mental health.
Methyl Folate Calcium
Also known as Methylated Folate, this form is easily absorbed by everyone and is great for bub, supporting their brain and spinal development whilst growing in your belly.
Folate or vitamin B9 is found to positively support a baby's overall neurodevelopment and may reduce the risk of neural tube defects. Please consult your medical practitioners. Our formulation has been made to support your folic acid intake not to replace.
